Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Moshi or Arusha by an experienced Ovamara Safaris guide. You will enjoy a scenic drive to Marangu Gate, the main entrance to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, located approximately one hour from Moshi.

After completing the park registration process, your trek begins through a beautiful rainforest trail. The route is well-maintained and gradually ascends through towering trees, moss-covered vegetation, and a rich variety of plant life unique to Kilimanjaro.

As you hike through the forest, keep an eye out for wildlife, including the famous black-and-white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, and a variety of colorful bird species that inhabit the mountain’s lower slopes.

After approximately 3 to 4 hours of trekking, you will arrive at Mandara Hut, situated at an altitude of 2,720 meters (8,923 feet). Here, you can relax, enjoy your packed lunch, and take in the peaceful surroundings of the mountain.

Following your break, you will continue with a short hike to the nearby Maundi Crater, one of the highlights of the day. The crater offers spectacular panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, northern Tanzania, and, on clear days, even neighboring Kenya. The volcanic landscape provides a fascinating glimpse into Kilimanjaro’s geological history and offers excellent opportunities for photography.

After exploring Maundi Crater, you will descend back through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Moshi or Arusha.
